Robert A. Embler, formerly of Selkirk, NY, died peacefully on October 18, 2018 at the age of 84. Known for his hard work, gentle manner and thankful attitude, he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his daughters Elise Olson and Nancy Tessier, and siblings William Embler, Jr. and Susanne Devine, as well as nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Lorena Reid Embler and daughter, Jennifer Northrup.
He married Lorena Reid in 1954 having met as counselors at the Community Chest Camp. In 1955 he enlisted in the Armed Forces and served in post WWII Japan. Bob was a can-do man who for many years ran a dairy farm while he also worked fulltime for Sunbeam Appliances. In the 1980 and 90’s Robert and Lorena Embler owned Sun Appliances on Central Ave. in Albany.
Robert designed and built many projects both big and small during his lifetime. His crowing jewel, with the help of his wife Lorena, was the restoration of their circa 1735 Dutch Colonial home. For the past two years he resided with his daughters on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
