Miss Ellie was my dear and treasured friend. When I first met her, I thought she was a bit strange. The way she saw people and the world was so different from what I was used to. But Tyaskin is a quiet place were somedays the only thing to get you out of the house is to go have cup of tea with your neighbor. So, slowly I grew accustomed to her viewpoints and advice. Eventually, we actually came to agree on many things. That is almost a miracle considering the age difference between us of 64 years. She taught me many things about myself and relationships. One of our most frequent topics of conversation was spirituality. I have a much grander, deeper understanding of God because of Ellie. I will miss our long chats watching the birds on her front porch. I am also grateful for the beautiful things she told me about my mother in law who I never met. I will be at a loss for who to share a great many things with now that she is gone. I will remember her when I take an afternoon cup of tea and look out my back window at the peaceful world she chose to call her last home on Earth.
