Ocean Pines, MD – Matilda “Tillie” Josephine Mulligan, 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD.
Tillie grew up, married, and raised her family in New York City. After retiring as an admitting clerk at Montefiore Hospital, she moved to Bronxville, NY, and then to Ocean Pines, MD for the last few years of her life. Tillie loved talking to anybody she could, showing her great sense of humor and caring nature. She was recognized for her personality and compassion as the recipient of the President’s Award from Montefiore Hospital in 1988. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s parish in Bronxville. She enjoyed listening to her Big Band records going on her daily walks into town, and spending all the time she could either talking to or being with her family.
Tillie is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Mulligan, and sister, Kathleen Jantzen.
She is survived by her sister, Josephine McGee; children Patricia Mulligan-Gauss (Roger), Nancy Mulligan, William Mulligan (Gail), and Sheila Meyer; grandchildren William Mulligan (Toni), Brian Mulligan, and Christopher Meyer; and great-grandchildren Lily, Gloria, and Matthew Mulligan.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 7th, 2019, from 2:00-6:00 PM at Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Services, a Division of Holloway Funeral Home P.A., 504 Franklin Avenue, Berlin, MD. A funeral mass will be held at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, 11211 Beauchamp Rd, Berlin, MD on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019, at 11:00 AM.
