Obituary of Carole McCoy

Carole Anne Beavers McCoy, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Harrison House in Snow Hill, MD. Born on February 22, 1941 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late John Beavers and Alice (Dove) Beavers.

As a young girl, Carole enjoyed dance. She also volunteered as a softball coach and Brownie Scout leader before she began working as a Secretary/Stenographer, Executive Assistant, and Medical Biller. Carole loved attending Redskins games with her brother Johnny at RFK Stadium. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her plants. She had a love for her kitties. Carole was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales. She previously worked at Providence Hospital and Loyola Retreat House.

She moved to the Eastern Shore in 1997 to be near her daughter and three grandchildren. She sweetly dubbed them her “gran-girls” and they were the light of her life. She spent most of her days supporting and encouraging their passions. She drove them to/from school and activities, hosted many special Friday night sleepovers, and would bang pots and pans and blow horns to celebrate NYE when they were young.

She is survived by her daughter Laurie and son Kevin; three granddaughters Katelin, Alissa and Julie; her brother Johnny and his wife Kristina, and special nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael.

A memorial service will be held on January 30, 2019 at 3 pm at The Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Service, 504 Franklin Avenue, Berlin MD, with visitation one hour prior.  Rev. Tom Bunting will be officiating.  Following the service, a reception will be held at The Atlantic Hotel in Berlin, MD.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Harrison House staff and nurses who loved Carole and tended to her every need, especially in her last few days.  She was blessed to be in the care of such caring and genuine professionals.  Also, her family would like to thank Bruce Bright of Allen, MD who tirelessly helped Carole with everything from mowing her lawn to installing special supports in her bathroom. We are forever grateful to you Bruce.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Harrison House of Snow Hill, or The Alzheimer’s Association.
