Obituary of Bill Ward

William F. Ward 73 (Bill) of Selbyville, DE passed away of natural causes on January 26, 2020 at Atlantic General Hospital. He was born in Richmond, VA on October 22, 1946. He was the son of the late Earl C. Ward and Hilda Mae Ward Kruger. He attended Lansdowne High School class of 1965. Bill served in the United States Navy as a Radioman from 1965-1969 active duty and was active in the Reserves from 1969-1971. He earned a National Defense Service metal and a Vietnam Service metal with 1 bronze star. He married Adelle M. Weetenkamp February 5, 1972. They would have celebrated their 48th anniversary on February 5, 2020. He was a retired professional logistics and truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24, the Moose Lodge and the Boy Scouts of America (Scout Master). He was an active church and choir member at Sound United Methodist Church in Selbyville, DE. He was also a life time member at Lansdowne United Methodist Church in Lansdowne, MD. Bill enjoyed having daily morning coffee with his friends. He loved spending time with his beloved family and friends. He also enjoyed along with his wife playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Christmas time. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and brother in law. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are son James E. Ward from Westminster, MD and his significant other Karen Brooks, sister Virginia Mullins of Lansdowne, MD, a brother in law James A. Weetenkamp of Dunlap, TN and many nieces and nephews; also a lifelong friend John Castle of Selbyville, DE and wife Joyce. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Sound United Methodist Church with Pastor John Schutt officiating. A gathering will follow at the church hall. The second service with be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Lansdowne United Methodist Church with Pastor Emily Skorupinski officiating. A gathering will follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations made to Sound United Methodist Church, 35131 Lighthouse Rd., Selbyville, DE 19975 or Lansdowne United Methodist Church, 114 Lavern Ave., Lansdowne, MD 21227.
